Instructions:

Preheat oven to 180 °C and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Beat butter with powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, orange zest and gingerbread spice until fluffy. Gradually beat in eggs, then mix in flour.

Divide the dough into two halves and mix the cocoa powder into one half of the dough.

Pour the dough into two piping bags with a smooth nozzle. Now pipe “dough couples” onto the prepared baking sheet with sufficient spacing: Two small heaps of dough close together, one light and one dark, so that they touch each other.

Place the dough pairs in the hot oven and bake (on sight) for about 10 minutes on the middle shelf. Then let cool completely.

In the meantime, melt the chocolate glaze according to package directions. Pour the pistachios into a bowl.

Frost cooled cookies with chocolate glaze to taste and decorate with pistachios.

Let Hansel and Gretel dry completely on baking paper and then store in a cookie tin.

The fine gingerbread aroma of the cookies is said to remind of the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel!
