Try this delicious cake recipe:

Make a shortcrust pastry with baking powder, sugar, flour, salt, egg and the light butter. Roll out the dough in a cake springform pan (diameter 28 cm) and raise the edge in about 3 cm. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Peel and core the apples and cut them into pieces about 1 1/2 cm in size. Spread the apple pieces evenly on the shortbread and sprinkle with a tiny bit of cinnamon.

Stir the custard powder with a little milk and the sugar. Put the remaining milk in a saucepan, bring to a boil and add the stirred custard powder. Bring the milk to the boil repeatedly, then remove from the heat, cool a little and fold in the eggs.

Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the apples and smooth it out. Sprinkle the almond bagels on top. Bake the apple pie in the hot oven on the middle shelf for 45 to 50 min.

Tips: Not every apple variety is suitable for pie. Boskop, Berlepsch, Idared are recommended. Half-fat margarine contains only half as much fat as conventional light butter. It says on the package that it is not suitable for frying or baking. However, this baking recipe works wonderfully with half-fat margarine.
